Rochestown played Nenagh in the quarter-final of the Dr. Harty Cup in Charleville on Thursday the 15th of January. Rochestown won out on a score line of 3-9 to 2-8 after a very tough and physical game in terrible conditions with ice cold rain pummelling down and winds coming from the four corners of the earth.
Rochestown started the better of the two sides thanks to Liam O’Sullivan who got a goal just a couple of minutes into the first half. But Nenagh soon answered with a goal and three points of their own. Nenagh’s eleven wides resulted in Rochestown leading 2-3 to 1-4 at half-time.
A goal from wing forward Ciarán Cormack after 38 minutes stretched Rochestown’s lead to five points. Nenagh did manage to get a late goal but were unable to complete the comeback. Rochestown won on a scoreline of 3-9 to 2-8 to advance to the semi-finals to play Árd Scoil Rís.
